Each year an outstanding volunteer in our community is selected to receive the Award for Educational Excellence at our only annual event. The award is bestowed on an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to our community and is a role model to our children. We will begin the nomination process shortly, by establishing a nominating committee and soliciting nominations.

The USREF is proud to honor all the recipients of the Award for Educational Excellence and bring recognition to those who have dedicated countless hours as a volunteer and strengthened our community.  Recipients must be residents of Upper Saddle River and served as volunteers, positive role models and mentors.  If you would like to nominate someone or learn more about the award, please email us at: usref@usrschoolsk8.com.   Previous Recipients.

The Tree of Knowledge is now in it's fourth phase and we have completed 4 panels. Hand carved tree trunks, a variety of carved wooden animals and almost 200 engraved brass leaves are showcased outside of the Walter P. Travers Multi-Purpose Room at Bogert and Reynolds Schools directly across from the Learning Habitat.

All proceeds from the sale of the tree will go to the continued enhancement and maintenance of the Learning Habitat, built in 2004 by the USREF for students in grades K through fifth.  The Habitat provides opportunities for curriculum-based hands on activities in science, math, language, art and social studies. 

Sharon Reissman, explains, " We want the Learning Habitat to remain as pristine in future years as it was the day we installed it. We'd also like to continue enhancing it as the administration sees fit.  We recently purchased child-sized tools and equipment for the students so they can plant this spring.  The Habitat is a beautiful garden but, more importantly, a classroom where kids can learn by doing.

Our one and only major fundraiser is our Town Night Out, or TNO.  This is a wonderful evening where you can enjoy the great company of our community members while raising funds for our children.  We honor our selection of the Award for Excellence and raise monies through our auctions.  The winners of our auctions and raffle have walked away with some terrific prizes! 

Please join us this year, for our 7th Annual TNO on April 2nd 7:00pm to be held at the beautiful Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack, NJ.  The evening will feature: Cocktail reception & Dinner, Fantastic DJ & Dancing, Live & Silent Auctions.

The best part of the evening is having a fun night out with friends with all the proceeds going to benefit our children!!
