The Grant Process
Each year, USREF grants allow the faculty to proceed with innovative and creative programs for the Upper Saddle River school system which would otherwise not occur due to lack of school funding. Grants are submitted by the faculty themselves to the USREF Grant Committee in October of each year for potential funding. The administration and the USREF trustees review the proposals according to the following criteria:
-
The grant benefits a large number of students in Reynolds, Bogert or Cavallini schools -
The grant enhances the existing curriculum for grades K through 8 in areas such as science, technology, math, cultural arts, and language studies. -
The grant fosters intellectual or creative development
If a grant meets the criteria, it will either by fully funded or partially funded in December of the same year. Depending on our availability of funds, some grants may not be funded. The faculty can then resubmit the grant the following year. Most grants are ready to be used by the faculty in January.
To date the USREF has funded over 100 grants totaling in excess of $481,671 since 2003. (excluding learning habitat)
